Inagural UCFInSpace Game
In their Inaugural UCFInSpace Game, UCF entered the home matchup against Tulsa with 12-10 overall record & just 3-7 in conference play. They snapped a 3 game skid on Thursday with a 68-64 win against ECU.
From the very beginning of the game, it was evident that guard play on both ends of the court would need to be UCF’s key to pull off the upset. There was no answer in the paint against Tulsa’s senior big man, Martins Igbanu, who was virtually unstoppable. While dominating the paint, Igbanu finished with a game high 30 points which more than doubled the next closest Tulsa scorer, Lawson Korita, with 12 points. No other Tulsa player was in double digit scoring.
The UCF defense stepped up to hold Tulsa’s perimeter scoring to just 35 points. On the offensive side, UCF found great success finding the basket from the perimter with 69 of their 85 points coming from outside of the paint.
Led by Darin Green Jr. with 26 points, UCF finished with 2 other players in double digit scoring. Ceasar DeJesus recorded 18 points while Dazon Ingram added another 12 points. UCF’s next game will be at home on Thursday, Feb 13 against 17-5 Wichita State & televised live on ESPN2 at 7pm. Tulsa will look to rebound at home Wednesday, Feb 12 against East Carolina.
