Can USF End Cincinnati’s College Football Playoff Hopes?
Cincinnati and South Florida are both coming off games that ended with less than ideal results. A fumble near the goal line aided Cincinnati in 28-20 win over Tulsa, and a second half surge from Houston resulted in a close loss for USF.
Numerous times throughout this season, USF has proven they can compete with great teams, the Bulls just haven’t been able to put together a complete game against those teams. A fourth quarter surge resulted in a loss 32-31 to Tulsa earlier in the season, a team that Cincinnati struggled with just last week.
South Florida’s run game is the most explosive component of their offensive, and has been one the biggest factors in their best performances this season. Just three weeks ago the Bulls rushed for over 400 yards in a win against Temple. Obviously, it’s not likely that USF will rush for 400 yards again, especially against Cincinnati, but this showed that they’re able to have great rushing performances. If USF is able to put together another solid game on the ground, keeping the ball out of Desmond Ridder’s hands, it will be difficult for the Bearcats to walk out Raymond James Stadium with a win on Friday night.
