FHSAA Football: Jones High Impresses In Spring Game
With Camping World Stadium as a backdrop, Jones High Football held their Green & Orange Spring game Thursday evening in front of a crowd of fans eager to get a glimpse of what the 2022 season might look like for the Tigers.
The promising 2021 season came up short in the semifinals with an overtime loss in December to Pine Forest. Since then, graduating seniors have departed thus providing some opportunities for underclassmen to compete for starting roles while other starters look to further shine. Added into the mix was an announcement that one of the nations top defensive prospects, Malik Bryant, decided to return home for his senior season. Bryant played last season at powerhouse IMG Academy and is currently ranked as the #1 linebacker in the nation by Rivals. His play and leadership is sure to go a long way with bolstering an already strong Jones defense.
The Green & Orange Spring game provided few insights schematically into what the 2022 Tigers team might look like. However, from an overall culture and mentality standpoint it was very evident that speed, energy, and a no quit philosophy. Head Coach Elijah Williams’ motto and message for the 2022 team – lead by example and we’re only as good as our weakest link.
