FAMU vs UNC Game Preview
Date:
August 27th
Game Time:
8:15 P.M. ET
Venue: Kenan Stadium
Network: ACC Network
On Saturday, August 27th, FAMU will be heading to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina. This will be the first time in program history that the Tar Heels will be going up against the Rattlers.
UNC is coming off of a 6-7 season, in which they got a big win over Miami and took great teams like Notre Dame and Pittsburgh down to the wire. The Tar Heels lost former star quarterback, Sam Howell, to the draft but have announced redshirt Freshman, Drake Maye, as their starter for the season opener. UNC is going into the season with a very talented defense to support Maye in his first season as the starter.
FAMU is following up a 9-3 season, with their only losses coming from Deion Sanders’ Jackson State, USF, and Southeastern Louisiana in the first round of the FCS playoffs. The Rattlers brought back star linebacker, Isaiah Land, who lead the nation in sacks with 19, and won the Buck Buchanan Award (National Defensive Player of the Year). Land will almost certainly have a great game in their season opener against the Tar Heels.
UNC announced this will be a “HBCU Celebration Game,” highlighting FAMU’s marching band, the “Marching 100.” The Tar Heels marching band and the Marching 100 will both be performing pregame and during halftime.
