USF Runs Past Howard for First Win of the Season
USF went up against FCS opponent, Howard, on Saturday, at Raymond James Stadium. The Bulls’ run game led them to a 42-20 victory over the Bison
USF ran for total of 205 yards and scored all six of their touchdowns on the ground. Sophomore running back, Brian Battie led the team in rushing with 105 yards, including a 60 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Michel Dukes and Jaren Mangham each ran for 2 touchdowns, while Dukes ran for a total of 34 yards and Mangham ran for a total of 28 yards. K’wan Powell ran for a goal line touchdown in the fourth quarter.
USF quarterback, Gerry Bohanon, threw for 219 yards and an interception early in the game. Bohanon completed 60.7% of his passes against Howard.
USF got off to a slow start against Howard, going into halftime with a 14-7 lead. Everything started clicking for the Bulls in the 2nd half, as they took control of the game, scoring on four of their first five possessions of the half.
Third year head coach, Jeff Scott, was proud of the way his team responded in the second half, as he stated, “Great to get a win and really the thing that stands out the most about this game is the way our guys responded in the second half.”
