Solar Bears Brayden Guy Hat Tricks Greenville Swamp Rabbits 5-4
The Orlando Solar Bears hosted the Greenville Swamp Rabbits today at Amway Center in Orlando, FL for the first o n the ECHL. The Solar Bears entered with a record of 25-22-6-1 and rank #6 in the South Division, while the 29-15-7-0 rank 4th.
Greenville jumped out real quick on the score board when Anthony Beauchamp found the net in the first 37 seconds of the contest. Less than 6 minutes later, Swamp Rabbits defensivemen Tyler Inamoto added to the lead with an assist from Carter Souch.
Facing an early 2-0 deficit, the Solar Bears regrouped before the end of the first period scoring 2 goals of their own within the last 2 minutes. Michael Brodzinski connected with a power play goal at the 2:16 mark and Tyler Bird followed with another at the :39 second mark to tie the game at 2.
The second period saw both teams adding a goal each. Greenville’s Tanner Eberle scored at the 12:50 mark with Orlando answering late again in the period when Brayden Guy picked up the first of his hat trick at the 1:09 mark.
The Solar Bears broke the 3-3 tie at the 11:26 mark in the third period when Brayden Guy added his second goal with the assists from Bennett MacArthur and Maxim Cajkovic. The Swamp Rabbits tie it back up 3 minutes later with a goal from Justin Nachbaur.
Tied at 4 goals and pushing just past 2 minutes left to play, Solar Bears Brayden Guy picked up his hat trick goal with the assist from Mathieu Foget. Orlando would go on to hold off Greenville for the remaining 1:17 minutes to secure the win
In the win, the Solar Bears improves to 26-22-6-1 and will next host the Adirondack Thunder Thursday, March 2 at Amway Center with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. Greenville falls to 29-16-7-0 and will visit the Norfolk Admirals on Friday, March 3 at 7:05 p.m.
