Omier Injured in Hurricanes’ Loss in ACC Tournament SemiFinal
Miami took on Duke in semifinals of the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina on Friday. Norchad Omier, Miami’s starting big man, went down during their 85-78 loss to the Blue Devils.
Coming down from a rebound, Omier suffered a right ankle injury in the third possession of the game, and remained sidelined from then on. The school has announced that Omier had no broken bones.
After losing Omier, the team’s leading rebounder, the Hurricanes were out rebounded 36-24, and put the Blue Devils at the free throw 25 times. Duke hit 84% of their free throws, going 21-25 at the line.
Postgame, head coach, Jim Larranaga, said, “He wasn’t able to play today. He sprained his ankle. It’s not broken, so we’ll just see day-to-day.”
Miami now awaits to see where they will be seeded in the NCAA Tournament.
