Florida Everblades Skate Out of Jacksonville Up 2-0
The Florida Everblades jumped out to 2-0 series lead over the Jacksonville Icemen for the South Division Championship in the ECHL. Jacksonville hosted the first 2 games of the best of 7 series at VyStar Memorial Arena but were unable to pick up a win on their home ice.
The Everblades made a statement on Saturday in game 1with an impressive 5-2 win. Despite Jacksonville’s 43-28 shots on goal advantage in Game 2 on Sunday, the contest remained close throughout. Both teams traded goals throughout until Florida’s Joe Pendenza, assisted by Ben Masella and Stefan Leblanc, found the net for the game winner.
The Everblades will host games 3-5(if necessary) played at Hertz Arena in Estero, FL. Game 3 will be Wednesday, May 10 and game 4 on May Friday May 12 with the puck dropping at 7:30 for games both games. Game 5, if necessary, will be at 7 p.m. If Jacksonville is win 2 of the games, the final 2 games of the series will go back to Jacksonville on Monday, May 15 & Tuesday, May 16 with both games beginning at 7 p.m.
