Utah Jazz Select Taylor Hendricks With 9th Overall Pick
Taylor Hendricks, the one-and-done star forward out of UCF, was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 9th overall pick of the first round of the NBA Draft on Thursday night.
With his selection in the NBA Draft, Hendricks makes program history for the Knights, becoming the first lottery pick out of UCF. Hendricks is the third NBA Draft selection in program history, joining Jermaine Taylor, the 32nd overall pick in 2009, and Bennie Shaw, the 146th overall pick in 1976.
Hendricks had a very productive 2022-2023 season with the Knights, averaging 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. The 6-foot-9 forward was named to the AAC All-Freshman team, as well as the Second Team All-AAC, while leading UCF in scoring, minutes played, three-point percentage, rebounds, and blocks.
Taylor Hendricks joins a talented draft class in Utah, as he was selected alongside Keyonte George, the 16th overall pick out of Baylor, and Brice Sensabaugh, the 28th overall pick out of Ohio State.
UCF fans will be able to watch Hendricks take the floor again during the NBA Summer League, starting July 3rd.
