USF Bulls Fall Short Against No. 10 Alabama
USF hosted No. 10 Alabama at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday. The Bulls played a tough game but lost to the Crimson Tide, 17-3.
The game was closer than the score might depict, with Alabama scoring a final touchdown with 33 seconds remaining. USF led Alabama 3-0 going into a weather delay just after the beginning of the 2nd quarter. The Crimson Tide took their first lead of the game with 4:35 remaining in the 3rd quarter, with Roydell Williams’ 1 yard touchdown run.
USF played well on defense, keeping them in the game against the Crimson Tide. Jhalyn Shuler and Daquan Evens led the way for the Bulls defensively. Shuler led the team with 11 total tackles, while Evens led the team with 3 sacks.
Despite the loss, there is reason to be excited about the future of the this program under head coach, Alex Golesh. Of course, a loss is a loss, and it is not the preferred outcome for Golesh and his team, as he mentioned multiple times in the postgame press conference, but being competitive against one of the best teams in college football is a sign that USF is moving in the right direction.
