UCF Football – Focused On a New Streak
FOCUSED ON A NEW STREAK
The UCF streak came to an end in the Fiesta bowl on New Year’s Day against LSU. During their very impressive streak, which is the fourth longest in this millenium, they compiled 2 wins against rival USF, defeated 4 nationally ranked opponents, captured back to back American Athletic Conference titles, had an ESPN College Game day takeover, captured the 2018 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl title by beating Auburn (the only team to defeat Alabama that year), and thus… celebrated in their proclaimed National Champions. Yes, that may all be history, so why still the hype? The streak ended on their last game of last season – in a New Year’s 6 Bowl game they feel like they should have won – against a Power 5 Conference team. The feeling hasn’t gone away nor have the conversations.
The players may not talk about it much, but the fans definitely do. UCF has a chip on its shoulder, and the players are extremely focused and committed. During the summer, day or night, players regularly met for extra work outs – in some case multiple times a day. And as anyone in sports knows, a team that is focused and plays with a chip on its shoulder can be a very formidable opponent.
So how is the team handling the upcoming season? They are ready to prove people wrong and show that the success is real. Their focus is on one game at a time & finishing each and every week 1-0.
