Colton Boomer Gets First Start in UCF Win Over FAU Freshman kicker, Colton Boomer got his first start as a Knight against FAU. Boomer performed well in his first game on Saturday night.
Boomer entered the season backing up senior kicker, Daniel Obarski, who had struggled early in the Knights’ first two games. Obarski went 0/2 on field goal attempts through their first two games, while going 10/10 on extra points.
Boomer, a Lake Mary native, went 2/2 on field goal attempts against FAU, nailing a 29 yard and 41 yard attempt. He went 4/5 on extra points, as he hooked one to the left, following a Plumlee touchdown run in the 2nd quarter.
When Malzahn was asked about the freshman kicker, he said, “We just felt like giving Boomer a chance…He did a solid job for us.”
