Montverde Academy Perfect at the 2022 NIBC Sunshine Classic
2022 NIBC Sunshine Classic at Montverde Academy wrapped up last night capping off three days of great high school basketball.
In the final game of the event, Montverde faced Legacy Early College. After both teams initialing starting a little slow, Montverde got on track and never looked back. Montverde imposed their will offensively and on both ends of the boards. Out rebounding Legacy 43-22, Montverde limited Legacy to just 5 offensive rebounds.
Montverde’s Liam McNeeley led all scorers with 19 points shooting 6-10 from the field and an impressive 5-7 beyond the arc, while teammate Derik Queen was a board short of a double double turning in a 12 point 9 rebound perfomance. Commits Chris Johnson(Kansas) and Dravyn Lawhorn(Illinois) both turned in 9 points with Duke commit, Sean Stewart, adding 7 points.
Legacy was led in scoring by Elijah Crawford and Coen Carr finishing with 8 points and 7 points respectively.
In the win, Montverde improves to 4-1 overall. Their remaining scheduled games for 2022 are all currently on the road starting with Bishop Walsh(Maryland) on 12/8, Oak Hill(Virginia) on 12/9, and then to a Honolulu, Hawaii where they will face St. Louis on 12/19.
Legacy Early College falls to 2-3 and will face the defending NIBC Champions, Sunrise Christian Academy on 12/8 in Bel Air, Kansas.
