FSU Seminoles Back In Orlando Bowl A Decade Later For 2022 Cheezits Bowl
The 2022 Cheezits Bowl will see a matchup between #13 ranked Florida State Seminoles versus the unranked Oklahoma Sooners. The game will take place on December 39, 2022 in Camping World Stadium Orlando, FL.
Florida State will be returning to Orlando for Bowl Season for the first time in 11 years when the Bobby Bowden coached Seminoles defeated Notre Dame18-14 in the 2011 Champs Bowl. In the same bowl 3 years prior, they faced and defeated Wisconsin 42-13.
For Oklahoma, it only marks the second time ever that the Sooners have played in an Orlando bowl game when they were overwhelmed by Clemson 6-40 in the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl. Although the Oklahoma football program may not be too familiar with Orlando, starting Sooner’s QB Dillon Gabriel spent 3 seasons in Orlando with UCF.
Under second year Head Coach Mike Norvell, Florida State battled their way back up to a 9-3 overall record and 5-3 in the ACC, 2nd in the Atlantic Division behind the ACC Champion Clemson Tigers.
It’s definitely going to be one of the most exciting bowl games, I think, of this Bowl Season
Mike Norvell, FSU Head Coach
The Oklahoma Sooners, under first year Head Coach Brent Venables, finished with a 6-6 overall record and 3-6 in the Big 12 Conference.
The 2022 Cheezits Bowl will kick off at 5:30 EST and will be televised live on ESPN.
